Caloric intake tracking

I have been running a sort of experiment for the past week to see if I can learn to pay attention to what I eat. Every day I recorded what I ate, which meal period I ate it in, and how many calories I consumed.

Perhaps I should have titled those notes “consumption” instead of “nutrition” as I did not record any breakdown of nutrients.

Here is a chart of the number of calories I consumed per day for the past eight days.
I think the chart will become more useful after I record a few more weeks of data.

Specifically, I want to see if my caloric intake is cyclical and if it is cyclical discover what its frequency is so I can compensate.

If I can predict that I'll be more hungry than usual on a specific day I can pack a bag of frozen fruit or something instead of doubling up on fast food.

The overall good news from this experiment is I think I'm learning to recognize the correlation between portion size and calories.
What I can comfortably eat in one sitting rarely goes over 800 cals unless it is extra sugary.
A ice cream type treat or general confections are a example of something that can easily take me over 800 cals in a meal sitting but they are not as appealing to me as they once were.

Sausage and Chicken Nuggets are all Walmart store brand. Fruit is Dole frozen fruit bags.

The liquid egg mix was nasty. I think the problem was I tried making it in a microwave oven instead of on a skillet. There were microwave instructions on the carton, which I followed, but the result was such that I threw out ¾ of the finished mixture.

Today was not so good. I work up late and didn't have enough time to cook scrambled eggs.
Lunch was bad, again. I don't know the official cal count so I'm guessing but it was a bit much again. It was yummy but I should have ditched the soup. Snack was just one of those group things. I usually have a DQ Blizzard every quarter year so this one will count for December, January, and February.

I think I'm doing OK so far on avoiding HFCS.

Social Security

I recieved a letter from the Social Security Administration the other day.
It said I'm more than half way to having paid in enough to retire. I turn 25 in three months.
Then then the letter said I can't start collecting until I'm 67 and that without changes by congress there wouldn't be any (or as much) money for me when I became eligible to collect.

Here I was thinking that I could retire at 30, use Social Security to pay for rent & food, and do a startup without worrying about a job.

This is, of course, yet another way the older generation takes unsustainable advantage of the following generations.

This is discounting the availability of Social Security in case of disability. I'm not sure what I think of that yet but I do think it should be moved into whatever National Health scheme we end up with.
