Sprint Airave
I was looking for something new to tinker with last week and came across a
Sprint Airave on eBay. $54 and a week later it was running on my desk at work.
The bad news is the Airave does not seem very tinker–friendly.
I'm still hoping to find a way into the Linux-based firmware and add a NTP server as with the onboard GPS it would make a good time server.
So far I haven't had any success prying open the Airave's software black box.
The good news is it does a excellent job improving cell coverage.
I took it to my Parent's house when I went to visit them for Thanksgiving.
Normally my Blackberry constantly switches in and out of roaming and drops calls constantly. With the Airave running I have not had any dropped calls. Voice quality is as good as a cell call should be.
